Holter Pressure

Image

What is it?

It is a non-invasive method of measuring blood pressure for 24 hours while the patient continues with his/her daily activities. In this way, the cardiologist can check your blood pressure fluctuations throughout the day with great accuracy.

How it is carried out:

24-hour blood pressure recording is done through a portable device, which consists of a cuff worn on your arm and attached to a small recorder that is placed on your waist or neck. Essentially, it is an electronic blood pressure monitor that measures your blood pressure several times during the 24-hour period. Programming and fitting the device is a simple process that takes a few minutes. The examinee wears the device for 24 hours while performing their normal daily activities. After the 24-hour period, the device is disconnected from the patient and the recording is transferred to a computer, where the results are analyzed using special software. Typically, blood pressure measurements are taken every 15 - 30 minutes during the day and 30 - 60 minutes during sleep.

What should I do during the test?

- Make sure that the tube connecting the cuff to the device is not twisted or bent.

- The cuff should be at about the height of your heart, keep your hand still and do not cross your legs.

- Keep a diary while wearing the pressure holster. It is important to remember what time you went to bed, what time you got up, and if and when you took medication.

- During sleep, it is important to try to stay in a supine position (on your back).

- Stick to your daily routine this does not apply to running and exercise. But you can go for a walk and even walk fast.
